FOG build up in your drainage pipes can be potentially damaging to our wastewater collection and treatment systems. When FOG is poured down the drain, it coats the inside of pipes, which will eventually lead to a blockage.
FOG is an acronym for Fats, Oils, and Grease that comes from deep fried foods, or occurs naturally in many foods, which leaves a residue behind on dishware that has been used to handle and prepare food.
When dishware is washed with hot water and detergents the FOG residue becomes liquefied and is mixed with the dishwater, causing the mixed FOG to be discharged with wastewater into our plumbing wastewater drain lines.
